Attendee’s Experience at Daily Life Sampling Workshop

Evrim Baykal, M.S., M.B.A. (University of Denver) shares her experience at the Daily Life Sampling Workshop held at Brandeis in Oct. 2025

I had the privilege of attending the Scientific Research Network on Decision Neuroscience and Aging (SRNDNA) workshop in Boston, with travel support provided by the organization. Beyond the generous logistical support, the workshop provided great networking opportunities to help expand my research community and connect with colleagues working at intersections of decision neuroscience and aging. A highlight was the session on multilevel modeling using mixed models in R, which provided clarity and strengthened my conceptual understanding of these approaches. I also acquired practical knowledge and best practices for real-life sampling methods, including ecological momentary and ambulatory assessment approaches. The interactive sessions and openly available GitHub materials made complex concepts accessible and immediately applicable. The combination of methodological training, collaborative atmosphere, and generous support made this an impactful professional development experience, and I’m eager to attend future SRNDNA events!
